Nuevos estudios relacionan la contaminación por mercurio con el
aumento del autismo
Las tasas más altas de la enfermedad entre la población infantil se
derivan del mercurio que existe en el medioambiente

Un equipo de investigadores de la universidad de Tejas, en Estados
Unidos, ha puesto en evidencia una peligrosa y preocupante relación
entre las tasas de mercurio y el aumento del autismo en los niños. Por
otro lado, diversas investigaciones señalan que puede propiciar el
Alzheimer y la diabetes, además de otros problemas de salud,
especialmente neuronales. La contaminación por mercurio en la UE ha
sido señalada por la organización Oceana, que advierte del peligro que
supone para los consumidores el vertido en los entornos marinos de
toneladas de mercurio cada año.
